“MDCAT Fee Hike: Medical Dreams Held Hostage by PMDC’s Greed”
فیسوں کی لوٹ مار نہیں چلے گی
خوابوں کا سودا بند کرو
علم ہمارا حق ہے — کاروبار نہیں
Becoming a doctor in Pakistan has been always a dream fueled by hard work, sleepless nights, and endless sacrifices. But now, that dream is being taxed—literally.
The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has raised the MDCAT registration fee to Rs. 9000, up from Rs. 8000 last year. This one-paper exam is now unaffordable for thousands of students, especially those from middle- and lower-income families.
NOTIFICATION issued by 👉PMDC Notification
This is not regulation. This is exploitation
Let’s be clear: MDCAT is a single, paper-based test. No multiple stages, no interviews, no practicals. Yet, students are being charged Rs. 9000 just to sit for it.
There is no transparent breakdown of costs from PMDC. No explanation for the hike. No public accounting of where this money goes. Just a quiet update — and a loud impact on struggling families.
In this year approximately 200000 students will appearin MDCAT test , 9000 per student , PMDC collect revenue of 1800000000 , how much Mafia it is #pmdcmafia.
CSS vs MDCAT: A Revealing Comparison
To understand the injustice, compare it with the CSS (Central Superior Services) exam, one of the most elite and competitive examinations in Pakistan.
CSS consists of 12 written papers, spread across 6 days. The total fee? Rs. 550.
Now consider MDCAT : Just 1 test, on 1 day. Fee? Rs. 9000.
This means MDCAT costs 16 times more than CSS — an exam that selects the bureaucrats who run the country.
The Burden on a Middle-Class Family
Take the example of a middle-class household earning Rs. 50,000–60,000 per month — the average income for many families in Pakistan. If four siblings are applying for MDCAT, a common case in large families:
Rs. 9000 x 4 = Rs. 36,000
That’s over 70% of the family’s income—spent on registration fees alone. This doesn't include tuition, books, transportation, or electricity bills. How can families survive on what’s left?
Education is becoming a privilege, not a right.
Our Demand: Reduce the Fee to Rs. 5000
We demand that PMDC revise the MDCAT fee and reduce it to Rs. 5000 — a just and reasonable amount.
- This would: Make the exam accessible to all socioeconomic classes
- Reflect fairness and transparency in public education policy
- Restore trust in PMDC as a regulatory body, not a commercial entity.

Stand together.
Speak louder.
Let those in power hear the voices they thought would never rise.
Education should lift people up, not price them out. PMDC must choose: uphold justice or continue feeding a broken, elitist system.
“You cannot price a dream and call it regulation. MDCAT was meant to be a test of minds — not wallets.”
We call on authorities, media, and the public to stand with us. Reduce the fee. Respect the dream.
